A few weeks ago I read Stephanie Perkin’s Anna and the French Kiss. It turned out that Anna was the first in a series of books. I enjoyed it enough to check out book two…Lola and the Boy Next Door. Anna and St. Clair do make regular appearances throughout Lola, but the story is unrelated to the first in the series and can easily be considered a stand-alone novel.
I have to say…I really enjoyed Lola! Such a cute, sweet, fun book to read. At times Lola and her costumes are completely over the top, but still likeable. I loved her incredibly overbearing Dads and Cricket while occasionally coming off a bit too perfect (really, a hairstylist too???) was still a loveable kinda guy.
I absolutely enjoyed Lola and the Boy Next Door even more than I did Anna and the French Kiss. It’s a rare thing to find that the second book in the series is even better than the first, but in this case it’s absolutely true. This has me totally looking forward to book three…Isla and the Happily Ever After.
Sometimes a mistake isn’t a what. It’s a who.
…I don’t want to give you this broken, empty me. I want you to have me when I’m full, when I can give something back to you. I don’t have much to give right now.
